Making Waves: Advanced Water Physics in MSFS 2024
The water physics have been enhanced, which will influence take-off and landing distances for seaplanes and other water-landing aircraft. However, the MSFS 2024 team hasn’t yet developed a realistic system for pitching large ships, so carrier landings with the F/A-18 Hornet in rough seas aren’t possible at the moment. But with the frequent updates to MSFS, it’s likely only a matter of time before this feature is introduced.
How It All Comes Together
MSFS 2024 now includes every helipad on Earth, over 80,000 in total, including all 941 off-shore oil rigs. The team also reached out to every glider airport worldwide, creating the first-ever global database to track them. Additionally, tall structures that pose an aviation risk, such as radio towers, have been outfitted with “OB” or “obstruction lights” at their peaks. You know those red lights on top of tall towers? MSFS 2024 has modeled over a million of these obstruction lights globally.
