Flying Forward: Backward Compatibility in MSFS 2024
Even with the new emphasis on cloud technology, Sebastian Wloch has assured users that backward compatibility remains a top priority for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Users will still have the flexibility to use locally stored mods, add-ons, and community-created content without any restrictions. This compatibility will be facilitated through the familiar Community Folder, which will operate much like it did in MSFS 2020.
The Community Folder will continue to allow users to add, organize, and manage their modifications seamlessly, unaffected by the game’s transition to a cloud-based storage system. This means that even as most content is streamed from the cloud, players can still integrate their personalized content locally, preserving the creativity and customization that has been so central to the Flight Simulator community experience.
